METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING POLARIZATION MAINTAINING PHOTONIC CRYSTAL FIBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily manufacturing a polarization maintaining photonic crystal fiber having fine holes with an oval-shaped outer cross section.

SOLUTION: In manufacturing a polarization maintaining photonic crystal fiber where the outer cross section of each fiber inside of each fine hole of the clad is oval-shaped, a preform 4 having a plurality of round holes formed to meet the hole pattern of the cross section of the fiber and being formed to have an oval-shaped outer cross section is prepared and drawn to a fiber with a fine diameter.
