<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium-cobalt composite oxide having excellent properties as a battery, especially as to a load, a cycling use, a high temperature preservation, a low temperature use, and a safety, when used as a cathode active material for a lithium secondary battery. <P>SOLUTION: The lithium-cobalt composite oxide contains 0.025-2.5 wt.% of F. When the surface of the lithium-cobalt composite oxide particles is analyzed by an X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, the energy position where a peak intensity attributable to F becomes maximum is at about 685 eV and the amount of F present inside of the lithium-cobalt composite oxide particles is 10-30 wt.% of the total amount of F contained in the lithium-cobalt composite oxide particles. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
