PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold washing method capable of removing the material refuse bonded to the surface of a mold certainly in a short time without damaging the surface of the mold, and a washing apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: The mold washing apparatus is constituted so as to irradiate the surface of the mold 12 with a laser beam to remove the contaminant in the mold 12 and equipped with an irradiator 42 for irradiating the surface of the mold 12 with the laser beam and a microphone 54 for measuring the sound pressure level of the sound generated by the irradiation with the laser beam. The sound pressure level of the sound generated by the irradiation with the laser beam is measured while irradiating the surface of the mold 12 with the laser beam and, when the measured sound pressure level becomes a predetermined value or less, irradiation is completed. More concretely, a region exceeding the predetermined value in the sound pressure level is irradiated with the laser beam until the sound pressure level becomes the predetermined value or less and, when the sound pressure level becomes the predetermined value or less, the irradiation of the region with the laser beam is completed.
