<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake and clutch operating mechanism that actuates a brake first and then actuates a clutch when an operating pedal is operatively depressed, in a traveling vehicle whose brake and clutch are operable with one operating pedal. <P>SOLUTION: A brake arm 156 as an operating member for the brake device 120, and a brake pedal 30 are connected via a pedal shaft 117, a brake cam 126 and a brake rod 127, and a clutch arm 48a as an operating member for the clutch (main clutch 47), and the brake pedal 30 are connected via a clutch rod 124, to thus constitute the brake and clutch operating mechanism, in which an elastic element 152 is interposed between the brake rod 127 and the brake arm 156.
