PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate determination of a cause of defective printing. SOLUTION: In an inkjet printer, pressurized ink ejected from a nozzle by vibrating the nozzle at a constant cycle is divided into ink particles, the ink particles are charged in a charged level corresponding to a charging voltage for printing to allow the charged ink particles to fly in a deflected electric field to be deflected, thereby printing a character on a printing medium. A phase detection signal in an analog signal state output from an automatic phase sensor 205 is converted to a signal in a digital signal state by an A/D converter to be stored in a memory 103 and the waveform thereof is indicated on a display device 105 on an inkjet printer body 100 in a form easy to visually observe.
