<p>UV absorbers of the bis- or tris-2'-hydroxyphenyltriazine type useful in photographic materials, inks or recording materials for ink-jet printing, and surface coatings have the formula <IMAGE> in which the radicals R1, independently of one another, are -(CH2CHR5O)n-R8, -CH2-CH(OH)-CH2-O-(CH2CHR5O) n-R8, -(CH2)1-CHR6 -C(O)-O-(CH2CHR5-O)n-R8 or -CH2-CH(CH2-OR7) -O-C(O)-(CH2CHR5-O)n-R8; R2 is H, OH, C1-C12alkyl, F or Cl; R3 is H, OR9, C1-C12alkyl, F or Cl; R4 is H, OR9, C1-C12alkyl, F, Cl or, if R2 is OH, is alternatively OR1; R5 is H or CH3; R6 is H or C1-C16alkyl; R7 is C1-C14alkyl or phenyl; R8 is H, C1-C14alkyl, phenyl or C1-C4alkylphenyl; R9 is C1-C4alkyl; L is from 0 to 16 and n is from 1 to 16.</p> |
