摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compensation plate useful for the thickness reduction and weight reduction of a liquid crystal display as a compensation plate for color compensation, visual angle compensation, etc., by transferring a thin film formed of a discotic liquid crystalline material which is a liquid crystal low polymer on an oriented substrate onto a translucent substrate. SOLUTION: The discotic liquid crystalline material which is the liquid crystal low polymer is applied on the oriented substrate 11. Next, the thin film 12 consisting of the discotic liquid crystalline material is formed by heat treating the material to orient the discotic liquid crystal, then cooling the material to immobilize the orientation state. Next, the translucent substrate 14 is stuck via an adhesive or tacky adhesive 13 onto the thin film 12. The thin film 12 is then peeled at the boundary between the oriented substrate 11 and the thin film 12, by which the thin film 12 consisting of the discotic liquid crystalline material is transferred onto the translucent substrate 14 side. As a result, the compensation plate 15 for the liquid crystal display element is obtd.
