PURPOSE: A monitoring apparatus and method for photographing panorama are provided to photograph a panoramic view using a plurality of lenses each of which photographs a limited area at a specific angle and CCD image sensors. CONSTITUTION: A monitoring apparatus for photographing panorama is composed of a plurality of lenses(8) each of which photographs a limited area at a predetermined angle and CCD image sensors(11). Each of the lenses takes a picture of a region corresponding to an angle obtained by dividing 360 degrees by the number of the lenses. An image transmitted through each lenses is photographed by a corresponding CCD image sensor. A video processor(13) is placed under the lenses and CCD image sensors and collects images of the CCD image sensors, arranges the images in a row, and then displays the arranged images as a panoramic image on a monitor.
