PRINTER CAPABLE OF CONTROLLING POWER BY HOST

PURPOSE: A printer capable of controlling power by a host is provided to save power consumption on a standby state by supplying the power to the printer when the host transmits the print data to the printer. CONSTITUTION: The printer(200) is connected to the host(100) by a USB(Universal Serial Bus) interface(211) having a data line receiving the data from the host(100) and a power supply line supplying the power from the host(100). A power supply(230) supplies the drive power to each electric part of the printer(200) by converting the external power. A switching part(231) decides to supply the drive power to each electric part. A control part(217) is operated by the power supplied through the power supply line, and controls the switching part(231) according to the data transmission through the data line.
