Wool is stabilised by chlorination and subsequent treatment with synthetic polymer, chlorination being carried out by contacting wool with solution containing free chlorine, with pH 1.8-2.2, for 3-25 sec. until wool has reacted with 0.1-3.0 wt. % chlorine. Chlorination and application of polymer be carried out in one step. |
