The invention relates to a splaying tool for mounting a capillary tube (7) in a plate-type evaporator (1), said tool comprising an inner pin (12) and an outer pin (11) which is guided in a sliding manner in a channel (13) of the inner pin (12). During the mounting of a capillary line (7) in a plate-type evaporator (1), the inner pin (12) is guided into a section (2) of a connecting line of the plate-type evaporator (1), and the outer pin (11) is guided via the channel (13) of the inner pin (12) into a capillary channel (6) of the plate-type evaporator (1), in order to splay the same. Both pins (11, 12) are flattened on one side in order to distribute the pressure acting on one of the two plates of the plate-type evaporator during the expansion of the same, as widely as possible over the surface of said plate, thus avoiding any deformation of said plate. The capillary line (7) is guided into the splayed capillary channel (6), and said capillary channel (6) is embossed with the capillary line (7) guided therein.
