PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic still camera which can perform consecutive photographing faster, has little waste in recording and easily grasps the movement of an object during reproduction. SOLUTION: Reading of an image pickup element 3 conventionally needs one vertical scanning period, and this fact is a determining factor of a consecutive photographing speed. In this present invention, horizontal lines are thinned to perform fast reading at the reading of an image pickup element. For example, 1/4 thinning makes a reading time about 4 milliseconds to enable faster consecutive photographing. In recording, similar image signals are discarded to obtain recording with little waste. In reproducing, each picture is reproduced in a required time interval to make the movement of the object easy to grasp. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
