PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To disclose a moving object image monitoring device capable of accurately specifying a moving object, a person in particular by automatically controlling a camera with an electrically-operated pan head and an electrically- operated zoom lens. SOLUTION: This moving object image monitoring device comprises a video device for acquiring moving picture information as a video signal, the pan head for panning and tiling the video device, a frame grabber for appropriately extracting still pictures from the video signal transmitted from the video device in a frame unit and binarizing the still pictures, a plurality of memories for alternately storing the binarized frame data, a CPU for controlling the movement of the pan head and processing the frame data, and an image database for storing the processed data. The video device sequentially monitors preset one or a plurality of monitoring areas. The CPU performs differential comparison with the preceding frame data. If a difference is detected, the CPU tracks corresponding coordinates, detects a particular color and expands the particular color. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
