PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera for enabling a person to be an object (operator included) to easily recognize that a battery is used up. SOLUTION: When ten seconds passes after a shutter button 40 is operated, an image sensor 14 is subjected to real exposure, and a compressed image signal obtained by the real exposure is recorded on a recording medium 36. However, a CPU 54 discriminates the residual quantity of the battery 58 just before the real exposure, and if the residual quantity is insufficient, a message is given from a tally lamp 48 and a speaker 52 to interrupt the real exposure.
