Seat part, backrest, and head restraint are adjusted and locked in position by a linear adjuster, and during a rear impact, are moved to a limited extend against the direction of the impact force. At least one energy absorption unit is incorporated in the linear adjuster. The part consists of a ductile element (24) and a deformation element (46), and is located at one end of an adjuster housing (28). This also contains an adjusting/clamp mechanism at the other end. The ductile element is a spring (30) or a foam bed, which is deformed by the deformation element, consisting of a double cone (26) or a ram.
