PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface discharge type AC plasma display panel having stabilized address discharge property in each of discharge cells and improved emission efficiency. SOLUTION: Each of the discharge cells formed in a discharge space between a front glass board 10 and a back glass board 13 is sectioned by a second side wall 15B, into a display discharge cell C1 opposed to opposed portions of line electrodes X, Y constituting the pair of line electrodes X, Y, where electric discharge is performed between the line electrodes X, Y, and a address discharge cell C2 opposed to a bus electrode Yb of the line electrode Y for electric discharge between a column electrode D and itself, where electric discharge is performed between the bus electrode Yb and the column electrode D. A gap r is provided between the display discharge cell C1 and the address discharge cell C2, and the discharge space is filled with mixed rare gas as discharge gas containing 10% or more xenon gas.
