PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an objective lens supporting mechanism that has high torsional rigidity, that causes no rolling resonance at high disk revolving speed, and that makes an optical disk accessible to the inner peripheral depth. SOLUTION: Among four springs 6a, 6b, 6c, 6d which are each fixed at both ends to a fixing substrate 7 and the side base plates 4a, 4b of a lens holder 2 and which support the lens holder in the air, the springs 6a, 6c and the springs 6b, 6d are parallel to each other respectively, with a space between the springs 6a, 6c as one and the springs 6b, 6d as the other expanding from the lens holder toward the fixing substrate. Accordingly, the spring arrangement is vertically asymmetrical about the lens holder, enhancing torsional rigidity. Further, the four springs 6a, 6b, 6c, 6d are identical in length, material and shape, preventing the lens holder from tilting in the focusing direction at the time of tracking and focusing. In addition, the springs 6c, 6d are arranged vertically to the tracking direction, making an optical disk accessible to the inner peripheral depth. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
