<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the overwrite performance of a rewritable phase change information recording medium (especially at a highest recording linear speed). <P>SOLUTION: A phase change information recording medium 1 is initialized by using a recorder itself for executing recording/deleting on the phase change information recording medium 1 by changing the irradiation method with a laser beam, considering a rotational speed or the like during actual recording or the like, and irradiating at least a groove area including a file management area with a DC laser beam of fixed intensity. Thus, deterioration is suppressed in the file management area in which especially characteristic deterioration of the first overwriting of the phase change information recording medium 1 is a problem, and the reliability and durability of a disk are greatly improved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
