PURPOSE: A user authentication method and system is provided to compare voice data on a specific word, input by a user in real time, with pre-registered reference voice data by using a voice recognition technique in authenticating a user. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises a member management database(500), a reference word generator(300), an automatic response processor(200), a voice recognizer(400), and an access controller(600). The member management database(500) stores and manages the personal data and the reference voice of a member. The reference word generator(300) generates reference words for determining whether an accessing user is a registered member. The automatic response processor(200) offers a voice guide message, and receives voice responses to the voice guide message. The voice recognizer(400) compares the input voice on a specific word with the pre-registered voice, and determines whether the accessing user is qualified. The access controller(600) controls the connection of the accessing user to a system according to the authentication result of the voice recognizer(400).
