PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain high recording density of a recording medium, to prolong the life of a read element (an MR element), and to improve the reliability of a magnetic disk device. SOLUTION: A magnetic head slider having a magnetic head for reading or writing data from or to a magnetic medium is provided with a main magnetic head slider 1 having a floating property to the magnetic medium 3 and provided with the read element for a servo signal, and a sub magnetic head slider 2 formed by being flexibly supported on the air outflowing portion of the main magnetic head slider 1 and having a magnetic head for reading or writing the data. The magnetic head slider is provided with the main magnetic head slider 1 having the floating property to the magnetic medium for reading or writing the data, and the sub magnetic head slider 2 formed on the air outflow portion of the main magnetic head slider 1 and having a function of reading or writing the data. The longitudinal and lateral dimension of the sub magnetic head slider is about one-fifth that of the main magnetic head slider. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
