PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a head positioning actuator of a memory device of a disk drive, etc., by a feed-forward control. SOLUTION: The actuator for positioning the read/write head of the memory device of the disk drive, etc., is controlled. More specifically, the feed-forward control is used to negate or counter the tendency of the read/write head to deviation from a track owing to disk tremor by using sensors 31, 41, etc., in order to detect the disk tremor amplitude perpendicular to the surface of the disk. A strain sensor, optical sensor, accelerometer, etc., are used to detect the tremor in the perpendicular direction of the disk. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
