PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable information terminal capable of preventing a malfunction as much as possible when erroneously operating a push button switch, in the portable information terminal comprising a main body having an operation part, a cover body openably/closably supported by the main body and the non-holding type push button switch exposed to the outside in a state of the main operation part covered by the closed cover body. SOLUTION: In this cell phone handset 1 to be an embodiment of this invention, the first push button switch 11 and the second push button switch 12 for operating prescribed functions when operating both of the switches 11 and 12 are installed on a left side surface 21 and a right side surface 2r different each other, respectively, in the main body 2.
