PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a positioning controller that sets a temporary target in positioning control of a positioning target object, can fast reach the temporary target and can prevent a driving mechanism from being damaged in performing reference position learning after the arrival to the temporary target. SOLUTION: This positioning controller is provided with a position detecting means 102 for detecting the position of the positioning target object 101, a target position generating means 103 for generating a target position signal on the basis of an output from the position detecting means, and a driving means 104 for driving the positioning target object on the basis of an output from the target position generating means. The target position generating means 103 has a controlling means for performing reference position learning for the positioning target object by setting a temporary target position for the positioning target object, determining a first control gain up to the set temporary target position as a control gain to be given to the driving means, and determining a second control gain smaller than the first control gain up to the completion of reference position learning after the arrival at the temporary target position.
