The molding is connected via two rows of point fasteners to two edge strips of a vehicle body. A hollow space (17) between the molding and the opposite body area contains at least one support body (11), which is supported between body area (13) and molding (5) when a constructively prescribed deflection of the molding is exceeded. The support body engages flat on the molding and is at least partially connected to it via a fastener bracket (9), which projects from the back of the molding and engages with a slot-shaped aperture (16) of the support body. A flat section (20) of the support body has a raised buffer zone (21) facing the body area. The support body is of foam-like material.
