PURPOSE: A key string processing method is provided to catch a reduced key string before the reduced key string is transferred to an application installed at a data processing terminal, and to convert the reduced key string into a standard specific code so that the reduced key string can applied to all the applications installed at the data processing terminal. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises several steps. It is checked whether a series of key strings are transferred from a key string interface block(S201). If the key strings are transferred from the key string interface block, it is checked whether the key strings are for a reduced automata(S203). If the key string are for the reduced automata, the reduced automata is driven and complete character codes corresponding to the key strings are generated(S204, S205). The character codes are converted into the codes appropriate for an operating system, and the converted codes are transferred to the operating system for enabling all the installed applications to recognize the converted codes(S206, S207).
