<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rental software providing method and a rental software providing program which can control the time limit of use of rental software, prevent the software from being duplicated, set the charge and sell software of product version and so on. <P>SOLUTION: When a user 10 actuates an assistant tool for the rental software A (S301), a connection with a server of a rental software store 20 is made and a GUI (graphical user interface) screen is displayed at a display part 12 of a PC terminal of the user 10 (S302). When the user 10 inputs authentication information (S303), the CPU 23 of the server confirms the authentication information. When the confirmation is successful and it is confirmed that the time limit of use is not exceeded yet (S304: Y), a command line character string is provided to the PC terminal of the user 10 (S305).
