<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video camera device that can realize improvement in picture quality and reduction in circuit scale, by utilizing information used for the automatic control of a camera and the information required for compression-encoding moving images picked up by means of an image pickup element in a shared state. <P>SOLUTION: A camera signal processing section 2 processes signals from the image pickup element 1 as digital signals and an evaluation value generating section 3 generates an evaluation value used for automatically controlling the camera, such as the auto-focus camera, auto-iris camera, etc., by using the processed signals. On the other hand, image information processed as digital signals is compressed as a moving image. When the image information is processed, a code quantity control section 10 controls the quantity of generated codes to a prescribed rate by utilizing the evaluation value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
