The assembly to condense a drawn and untwisted sliver has a continuous and permeable belt to carry the sliver over a suction slit. A blower slit is at the belt guide surface (7), parallel to the suction slit (16) and in its immediate vicinity. The blower slit is shorter than the suction slit, and the gap between the slits can increase or decrease in the sliver transport direction (A).
