PURPOSE: A compound for a yellow light emitting substance and an organic electroluminescence device containing the compound are provided, to improve the luminance efficiency and to obtain a device emitting a yellow light. CONSTITUTION: The compound is represented by the formula 1, wherein X is O, S or N-R; R is H, an aliphatic hydrocarbon group or a heterocyclic group; and Y is an alkyl, cyclic or heterocyclic group containing at least one electron attracting group. Preferably the electron attracting group is selected from the group containing a cyano group, an oxycarbonyl group, an acyl group, a sulfonyl group and a carbamoyl group. The organic electroluminescence device comprises a first electrode; a second electrode; and an organic light emitting layer which is placed between the two electrodes and is made of the compound of the formula 1 or contains the compound as a dopant.
