<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a tunnel illuminated only when necessary. <P>SOLUTION: This lighting facility for illuminating an inside of the tunnel by an illumination lamp has lighting switches (relays X1, X2) for turning the illumination lamp Ra on and off, a controller Cb for controlling an operation of the lighting switch (relays), and approach detecting means (vehicle approach detecting sensor Sv, human being approach detecting sensor Sm) for detecting approach of a traffic object into the tunnel.
