PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a charging method for lead storage battery, wherein a lead storage battery is less prone to being brought into heavy discharge state and the capacity is less prone to lowering. SOLUTION: First charging is adopted, wherein a lead storage battery is charged with a usage-based amount of charging obtained, by multiplying the amount of discharging carried out after the previous charging by a predetermined coefficient X. If the first charging is successively adopted in charging the lead storage battery, the predetermined coefficient X is updated with a value, which is increased with increase in an integrated valueΣP of the amount of discharge.
