MANAGEMENT METHOD FOR NETWORK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a management method for a network capable of easily and quickly managing the network. SOLUTION: A preview packet having a preview function is transmitted to a network device before a network management station reads or sets an MIB (Management Information Bases) group table of an SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) network device. When the network device receives the preview packet, an item supporting the SNMP agreement of an MIB group is transmitted to a network management station in a response packet. The network management station analyzes the response packet so as to recognize the item of the MIB group of the network device. A manager of the network can thus efficiently manage the network and precisely read and set the MIB. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
