The current collector head for supplying ground transport vehicles from a central electric network can fund application in the town transport. The head comprises a body (10) for connection to the rod of the transport vehicle and a guide (20) with a U-shaped groove for being guided along the overhead conductor of the supply network in which a current conducting insert (24) is fitted. Guide (20) is connected to a double pivot (30) to the body (10) which has an upper front shield to protect the front limiter (22) of the guide. Guide (20) has holes (25) machined for cooling the insert (24), fitted obliquely to the sides the U-shaped groove of the guide and in the direction of the front limiter (22). The U-shaped groove of guide (20) and the current conducting insert (24) are matching each other in order to form even surface contact. 5 claims, 3 figures
