The excavator shovel (10) has an inclination sensor (18) mounted directly on the shovel, with an input device used for entering the required shovel inclination angle, compared with the actual shovel inclination angle for controlling a signaling device dependent on the difference between the actual and required angles, for guidance of the excavator operator. The signaling device can be provided by a LED signal lamp (20).
