A method for imprinting an image on a soft surface is disclosed . In Figure 1, the image is formed using a compound comprising ink and aromatic polyisocyanates. For imprinting a single-color image, the method includes providing (105) the image on heat transfer paper, applying (110) powder to the image, applying (115) heat to the paper after applying the powder, positioning (125) the paper with the image thereon against the surface, applying (130) heat and pressure to the paper against the surface, removing (135) the paper from the surface such that the image remains on the surface, and applying (140) heat to the surface after removing the paper. For imprinting a multi-color image, the paper is preheated prior to forming any image thereon. Further, each color is applied separately, and the paper is heated after application of each color. The powder is applied only after all colors have been applied to the paper to form the multi-color image.
