ELECTRIC CONTACT AND BREAKER USING THE SAME

An electric contact which comprises an Ag alloy having a chemical composition wherein Sn and In contents are both 1 to 9 mass %, has a first layer as a surface layer and a second layer as an inner part, wherein the first and second layers exhibit hardness values of 190 or greater and 130 or less, respectively, as measured according to the micro-Vickers standard provided in JIS and the first layer has a thickness in the range of 10 to 360 mum. The electric contact is advantageous especially in that it combines excellent fusion resistance characteristics and excellent temperature characteristics.
