PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information distribution method and apparatus capable of executing bypass processing to avoid congestion of other channels to the utmost.

SOLUTION: The information distribution method for distributing from the information distribution apparatus to a plurality of switches via a channel comprises: a step of splittingly distributing a plurality of information items to a plurality of the switches depending on a prescribed channel selection ratio by the information distribution apparatus; a step of receiving a restriction control request from at least one switch by the information distribution apparatus; a step of changing the channel selection ratio in response to the received restriction control request by the information distribution apparatus; and a step of splittingly distributing information not subjected to reception processing by the switch transmitting the restriction control request to a switch having not yet sent the restriction control request according to the channel selection ratio after the revision by the information distribution apparatus.
