The assembly to fold flexible materials (1), e.g. nonwovens and textile piece goods, has two opposing folding blades (2/1,2/2) with drives to give them an alternating reciprocating movement across the direction of material travel. Their forward movement is slower than the reverse movement. The folding blades also have an additional movement component in the direction of material travel.
