<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of sharply displaying a video image of a face of a visitor or a person or the like intruded in a house in a moving picture photographed by a camera on a screen of a small-sized monitor of a mobile terminal. <P>SOLUTION: The supervisory system comprises: the image processing apparatus 104 for applying partial high image quality encoding or partial magnification encoding to a moving picture photographed by cameras 101, 102; a communication section 105 for transmitting image data to a public network 106; and a mobile terminal 108 with a TV monitor for displaying the moving picture. The image processing apparatus 104 detects an area including a face and a human body from a current frame of the moving picture photographed by the cameras 101, 102 to obtain a detected area, discriminates the correctness of the detected area by comparing the detected area with a correction area of the past frame, selects the detection area as the correction area of the current frame when the detected area is correct, sets the correction area of the current frame on the basis of the correction area of the past frame when the detected area is in error, and applies partial high image quality encoding or the like to the correction area. Thus, the face of the visitor or a suspicious-looking person can sharply be displayed on a small-sized screen of the mobile terminal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
