PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently save energy even by an electronic device on which a SSCG (Spread Spectrum Clock Generator) 28 is mounted. SOLUTION: In an energy saving function mounted electronic device provided with the SSCG 28 for modulating a basic clock signal from an oscillator 27 to output a modulation clock signal, which transits from an ordinary state to an energy saving state when a preset condition is established and with an energy saving function for saving energy to supply power to a required minimum configuration devices only, power is supplied to the SSCG 28 only in the ordinary state and supply of power is stopped in an energy saving state, the basic clock signal is employed for a clock signal for a system control section 1 receiving power in the energy saving state and an energy saving state ON block 25, and the modulated clock signal is employed for a clock signal for other energy saving state OFF block 26. Thus, energy saving can efficiently be applied to even the electronic device on which the SSCG 28 is mounted. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
