A birth simulator has a womb unit (1) and a model of a child (2) located in the womb unit. Natural shape, size and position are maintained. The model of the child connects to a controllable drive mechanism (5) via a coupling device (7) in order to move the model of the child in the womb unit and to push it out of the womb unit through a birth canal. An Independent claim is also included for a model of a child.
