Compounds of formula where the substituents are as defined in the description, and pharmaceutically or veterinanarily acceptable derivatives or prodrugs thereof, are pharmaceutically and veterinarily useful, in particular they bind to opiate receptors (e.g. mu, kappa and delta opioid receptors).
