It is described a method and an apparatus for forming a tyre by manufacturing the tyre components directly on a toroidal support (3) the shape of which matches that of the tyre to be obtained. Some components (11, 12, 13) of the tyre are obtained through delivery from an extruder (14, 15) of an elongated element to be suitably distributed on the toroidal support (3) while said support is rotated around its own axis. Simultaneously, the toroidal support (3), suspended from a robotized arm (16), is moved in front of the extruder (14, 15) so as to determine the transverse distribution of the elongated element and then form a plurality of circumferential coils (11a, 12a) therewith, which are disposed in axial side by side relationship and/or radially superposed to define the structural component of the tyre. |
