PURPOSE: A signal processor having a color burst control function and a method for controlling color burst thereof are provided to compensate the deviation of color burst levels by the channel by providing a color burst signal always having a regular level, thereby providing the optimum quality and color to users. CONSTITUTION: A signal processor having a color burst control function includes an analog-to-digital converter(20) converting an intermediate frequency signal into a digital format and outputting the converted digital intermediate frequency signal; a digital filtering part(22) deciding a first bandwidth to filter chroma component in response to a control signal, filtering the digital intermediate frequency signal in a second bandwidth corresponding to the first bandwidth, and outputting the filtering result as video component; a digital-to-analog converter(24) converting the digital video components into an analog format, and outputting the converted analog video component; a video signal processing part(26) examining a level of a color burst signal included in the video component, and outputting the examined level; a control part(28) detecting change amount of the level, and outputting the control signal corresponding to the detected change amount.
