PURPOSE: An electron gun is provided to minimize deflection errors of electron beam and achieve improved resolution by enhancing the shape of electrode of electron gun. CONSTITUTION: An electron gun comprises a triode unit including a plurality of cathodes for emitting electron beams, a first electrode serving as a control electrode for controlling radiation of electron beam, and a second electrode for accelerating electron beams to a screen; a pre-focus lens unit constituted by a third electrode(4), a fourth electrode and a fifth electrode for focusing electron beams; and a main electrode constituted by the fifth electrode and anode electrodes for focusing electron beams to the screen. The first electrode has a longitudinal slot recessed into the second electrode, wherein the longitudinal slot has an electron beam passing hole formed through the center of the slot. The second electrode has a transverse slot recessed into the first electrode, wherein the transverse slot has an electron beam passing hole formed through the center of the slot. The third electrode opposed to the second electrode has a longitudinal key hole(42) which is formed by a longitudinal rectangular hole(42a) and a circular hole combined at the center of the longitudinal rectangular hole. The circular hole has a diameter larger than the horizontal width and smaller than the vertical width of the longitudinal rectangular hole.
