PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the power to be consumed at a waiting time in an OA apparatus such as an image scanner, a facsimile or the like. SOLUTION: When a power source switch of an image reader is pressed so that a power source is turned on, a switching means 63 is turned to a terminal A side, first to fourth switches 66 to 69 are turned on, a predetermined power is supplied to first to fifth loads 70 to 74, and an initialization is conducted. After the initialization is ended, if a reading operation request is not present, a device side CPU continues a waiting state for a predetermined time. Then, the means 63 is switched to a terminal B side, and, as needed, the first switch 66 or the second switch 67 of the power source line to the second load 71 and the third load 72 are switched off.
