The process uses a tool (2), which is supplied with a fluid (5), e.g. oil, to reduce friction. The fluid supply is regulated, so that the fluid is mainly hydrostatic within the area of the work piece (1) to be formed. Fluid is supplied and removed via a conduit (4) in the tool, and both are controlled by a regulator unit (8). Friction may also be reduced by the use of one or more roller bodies positioned near edges or near the ends of the conduits.
