A guide (28-30) for the connector is so placed that the connector can be passed through both vessel and prosthesis as these reach their placement position. The guide (18) bears on the vessel by surface (26) which in turn encloses the connector guide (28-30). The guide contains a recess (28) which lies open from the surface (26) towards the vessel. Guide (18) surface (24) rests in the prosthesis in the handling position so surfaces (24,26) meet in area (44). The connector guide presents a dead-end recessed in strip form. Surface (26) is flat as against surface (24) which is a cylindrical casing surface form with the surface (26) set at an angle to the shaft (20).
