PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alicyclic-structure-containing polymer hydrogenate having a very low small foreign matter content and to provide a method for efficiently producing the same. SOLUTION: The method for producing an alicyclic-structure-containing polymer hydrogenate comprises hydrogenating the carbon-carbon double bonds of an alicyclic structure-containing polymer selected from the group consisting of a norbornene polymer, a vinyl cyclic hydrocarbon polymer, and a cyclic conjugated diene polymer by using a heterogeneous hydrogenation catalyst being one prepared by supporting a group 8-10 metal in the periodic table on a carrier and having a content of particles with particle diameters of at most 1μm of at most 1 vol.% and a specific surface area of 50-300 m<SP>2</SP>/g to obtain an alicyclic structure-containing polymer hydrogenate and removing the hydrogenation catalyst therefrom.
