PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrial method for producing a quaternary ammonium organic acid salt. SOLUTION: This method for producing the quaternary ammonium organic acid salt expressed by general formula (3): [R<SP>1</SP>R<SP>2</SP><SB>2-n</SB>R<SP>3</SP><SB>n+1</SB>N<SP>+</SP>][R<SP>4</SP>-COO<SP>-</SP>] (wherein, n is 1-2 integer; R<SP>1</SP>is a 1-20C alkyl, alkenyl, aralkyl or aromatic group which may have a substituting group; R<SP>2</SP>is H or a 1-20C alkyl, alkenyl, aralkyl or aromatic group which may have a substituting group; R<SP>3</SP>is a 1-20C alkyl, alkenyl, aralkyl or aromatic group which may have a substituting group; and R<SP>4</SP>is H or a 1-20C alkyl, alkenyl, aralkyl or aromatic group which may have a substituting group) is provided by performing a reaction of a primary of secondary amine expressed by general formula (1): R<SP>1</SP>R<SP>2</SP>HN with a carboxylic acid ester expressed by formula (2): R<SP>4</SP>-COOR<SP>3</SP>.
